My pattern of once-a-month blogs continues, and I'm only doing this because I gotta vent about LeBron...
Quick note about me: It's been an under-busy couple months, and I've been laying the seeds on what is to be a very, very exciting summer. First off, a new video is debuting in a couple weeks; And keeping in the trends, it's going to knock the walls down and rock the foundation of every offensive video ever made. What song is it for? Blind, Deaf, and Mute. Yes, you heard that right. GO ahead and give it a listen and then picture what the hell the video is about. Yep. We went there.
LeBron:
So glad LeBron got his. I've never been a fan (though I respect his game, he is one of the best...), and seeing his team crap the bed yet again just felt great. And many propers to the Celtics - With this summer being a game changer in the NBA, this is probably their last run, and they're going out with a fight. Can't see them beating Orlando, but I can't envision them being swept either. I say Orlando wins it in 6, and if they play the Lakers - I think they beat them too... But if the Suns somehow keep this up... Well... Suns/Magic would piss off the networks as far as ratings go, but would entertaining as hell. And I think the Suns can pull it off. But it's awesome that there is so much parity - Always great for the game and the fans. If it's unpredictable, people will watch...
Getting back to LeBron, he's just a big phony. And yes, when I say that, all I can picture is the family guy episode of the guy who yells "phony!" at Peter throughout. You know... This one:
That's what I would do with LeBron. He can be picked apart a thousand different ways, but the fact is this: You can't force yourself as some kind of 'global icon' (his words) when the people don't embrace you as one. Being an icon means you are at mythical status, like people can't stop talking about you, or even better, your name being brought up ends conversations. Like you are the end-all, be-all. The world made Jordan a global icon, same goes for Ali. In America, Babe Ruth. In Canada... Gretzky. My point is this - They put their nuts on the table and did what they had to do. And most importantly... They won. Supporting cast be damned, Jordan didn't much of any help and he still came *just* short for a couple years, in a much deeper league talent-wise. So don't give me this bullshit about teammates, money, cities, whatever. They guy is forced down our throat and even move is micro-managed to a T. From the hiding of being dunked on at clinic, to orchestrated photos, to the teasing of New York with the hats.... He's a big fake. Manufactured and pushed in front of our face, tricking the public into thinking he's got it all. He's had his ass kissed almost his entire life due to his game. How can he know how to fight if he's never had to? All his teammates seem to kiss his ass, try to buddy up to him, it's a big joke. Rumors are any team he signs with will also let him pick their new coach. Wow... Way to let the player run the organization. That always works out, huh? Killer instinct is created by want. You gotta want it. His biggest want is getting paid and having the world bow down in front of him. What he is too stupid to understand is winning gives you all that and then some. You might be able to fake your way into becoming a billionaire through endorsements. But you'll never be able to fake your way to title. Stay out of Chicago LeBron, we don't need your sideshow - We only want winners. We work for ours - We don't ask for handouts...
